On the occasion of our (grand)mother's 60th birthday we spent a weekend in the fine city of Valencia. The trip came as a complete surprise to her, as it was all planned in complete secrecy by her children. Last Friday morning, Eva and Dimitri wisked birthday nan and her faithful hubby (Frandad) off to Valencia, where we (Gonz, Rosy and Erwin) were awaiting them at the hotel, just off the stunning Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Here's mummy in front of local boy Santiago Calatrava's masterpiece, the Ciutat de les Arts i de les Ciències, a wonderful complex of futuristic buildings housing an IMAX theatre, a science museum, concert hall and more.
