
Spain's industry minister, Miguel Sebastian, has already shown the way by being the first man to not wear a tie during a session of Spanish parliament.
Japan's environment minister had earlier launched a similar initiative under the name 'Cool Biz', and claimed that getting rid of men's ties had kept 460,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.

Al Gore has also joined the tieless club. He does his speech without a tie now. But that is a mere drop in the ocean that is his carbon footprint.
